Tyre pressure is everything.
Running the right tyre pressure is one of the highest impact / free adjustments you can make to your bike set up that will make you ride faster, more comfortably, safer and with a reduced risk of pinch flats - it will also increase your tyre durability. Your NSC wheelset will only be able to deliver the performance and experience you expect if your tyre pressure is in the right ballpark.
There are three key concepts important for you to understand:
- Recommended tyre pressure in line with tyre width (and weight) - the charts below show the recommended pressure (in psi) for each given application (the type of tyre you're using: road, gravel or dirt), the width of your tyres, and the weight of the rider.
- Tyre manufacturer max pressure - psi limit set by your tyre manufacturer for the tyre model you're using. Check out this number in your tyre walls and never go past this pressure.
- NSC Rim max pressure - do not exceed the indicated max pressure for your wheelset (Road is 120 psi, MTB & Gravel is 65 psi)
This page is meant to serve as a starting point to dialling your tire pressure -please always mind the maximum inflation ratings of your rim and tyre.
